'Our last photograph together'
Somewhere near Trieste, Italy, early 1945, a German tank crew on anti-partisan duties, operating a captured T-34 a long way from its usual stomping ground, stop outside an old fuel station to search for oil and fuel. Seizing the opportunity, the commander digs out his treasured Zeiss camera for one last picture with his friend, the driver who had been with him since Tunisia 1942.
This diorama came about as a chance to play with some new 3d printed 144th scale figures from eBay/Etsy seller 3djson and an excuse to use one of the 10mm resin buildings from Pendraken.
The tank is one of the Arrowhead Minatures whitemetal vehicles with lovely detail and seperate hatches, perfect for a maintenance scene.
Painted with AK 3G paints based on profiles in a Beutepanzer book and weathered with some enamel wash to show off the intricate detail.
The figures needed careful extraction from their cages, but had lovely detail and painted up very nicely.
The building was a very easy to use single piece block, I adapted it by covering the broken wooden door rendition with a garage shutter. Posters and decals from the 1/35 Miniart Italian Garage set.
The scene was accessorised as usual with a selection of Brengun etched tools and the groundwork has a variety of weathering pigment on a 10x10cm canvas.
