Showcasing (some of) my Builds

Post by Connor »

Howdy, a rare post from me but trying to get more involved while I can.
I’ve never been one for documenting my builds or showing off, but starting to realise that’s half the fun of the hobby I’m missing out on

Anyway, expect more from now on, and to kick off I'll start by showing off some of the builds that I took along to the Dundee IPMS show on Saturday (2nd Aug) . There wasn’t much from the other clubs on show in 1/144 so i was happy to represent the scale in some way

First up is my Most recent completion, that’s taken on off 3 years the BE-12 mail- it’s(mostly) the old OKB kit that was an absolute cursed kit. Typical of the short run old eastern European brands, awful mouldings, a few scratch build and re-scribed parts I gave up on it so many times just to come to punish myself further, I wish I had some pics of the build process but alas, eventually folded and bought the A models kit when I got to the end after the decals immediately disintegrated …. Only for the same thing to happen to them too. But a huge relief it was to get it off the bench and euphoric to get a highly commended ribbon at the Scottish nationals show, strange how my most hated kit became my proudest achievement

Revell F-14A Tomcat “Demon of Razgriz”
This was the first 1/144 kit I built during the lockdowns, so you could say it’s the one that started it all. The livery scheme is from the Ace Combat video games series, that I was OBSESSED with as a kid, and still am truthfully  Excuse the dust, its been a while since she was out the cabinet and the camera picks up what the eyes couldn’t

Platz Lightning F.6 “XS927 34.Sqn”
Just a low-pressure fun wee build to try out my metallic painting skills, lessons were learned but overall turned out nice to look at.
my local club theme this year was best of British, so this was one of my table contributions.

Sweet P-63 “reno racer”
This was one I built last year for the national competitions, to great success! winning the civil aircraft category and the civilian aircraft trophy at the Scottish national show. :D Though I feel somewhat guilty for that because as anyone that’s built one knows, it’s a beautiful kit to build, it practically falls together, I just extracted a detail or two

Armoury SU-24M Fencer-D “Yellow 41”
One of my favourites for sure, very visually interesting. Nice livery scheme just cool in general in my opinion, can’t say much more than that other than I’ll definitely revisit the Ukrainian digital camo subjects to go along with it in the future

Cyber-hobby (1/200) Vulcan
Last but certainly not least, the tin-triangle. Another best of British contribution, and an eyecatcher for sure.
I know I know, wrong scale, but I won’t tell if you don’t ;)
This was a fantastic kit (despite the minor inaccuracies) & absolute pleasure to build. And the paint scheme was fun to experiment with too, I used the opportunity to practice my pre shading and paint distribution methods in small scale, to good effect in my opinion, still intend to do a tough of oil weathering in the future but for now it’s a great addition to the display cabinet

Anyway, that’s all I have to report for now, following posts will be lighter for sure but I'll bee keen to share when I can
Hope everyone’s keeping well :)
