Keighley Show - September 2024

Post by Tim R-T-C »

My home show at Keighley this weekend meant I was busy helping keep the show running all weekend so didn't get a chance to join the SIG displayers, but did manage to pull some strings and get a nice large table space for the display.

Huw and David F presented a great selection of aircraft big and small.

David H with his unique sci-fi creations

And Malcolm with his maritime masterpieces.

Delighted to say that the table took the Best Display award voted by Keighley club members.

Malcolm also took home an award, his 1/48 lifeboat winning the ship category and overall Best in Show at the competition tables.

For myself, I displayed a column of my latest builds on our club table and my little Piper vignette was a close second place in the club's own competition, voted for by show visitors.

Keighly model show was really kind to me and my family as my youngest grandson won his first model class at his first try, at only his second model show (Not 1/144 unfortunately) although he did have a couple of his models on the SIG stand. I won best in show which I NEVER expected as I only entered the winning model just to let other people see a RNLI lifeboat in their 200th anniversary year (Again not 1/144 unfortunately) The SIG was kind enough to let me show my model boats which are 1/144 so thanks to the SIG members for giving me so much of their space which I'm sure they could have used.

Oakley class lifeboat
Kits use were: -
Alanger 1/48 Oakley lifeboat
Tamiya 1/48 Japanese bulldozer conversion
