Stung ba a Mosqito

Post by MalcolmR »

While escorting a convoy the "Kriegsfischkutter" was stung by a Mosquito with the result that the ships motor was damaged resulting in it drifting aground. As the watch keepers look for some promised help and for any more of those "pesky insects" the engine room fitters attempt to repair the motor before the tide comes in.
The kit is the ICM "Kriegsfischkutter" and most of the crew are U-boat figures from "Robert Johnson" who also does some nice Royal Navy and female ATC drivers. The sea base is made using the "Woodlands Water" system which I have not used before. (it turned out not to bad for a first attempt) the rocks are small bits of Styrofoam covered in toilet tissue and PVA glue then sealed with Halfords grey primer which is the base colour for the rocks. If I can I like to show as much of the Hull as I can hence the ship on the rocks.

Magnificent work.
And the water is so real that you can almost hear the sound of the waves...

Lovely job ! I've got one of these to build - does it go together Ok?

Love the shallow water - I reckon that's harder to do than deep as you can't just paint it. Will we be seeing it at the shows?

I wonder if there's a German equivalent of the Scottish engineer down there......"I canna' fix it in under two hours cap'n........".........

Actually the engineers are Royal Navy deserters as I had no other figures to use.

Really lovely work on the boat and scene.

I got some of his figures recently too - 3djson on eBay, lovely detail.

I've also got one of these in the stash. Maybe a series display at Telford this year 🤔😁
