IXO 1/144 Heinkel 177 A-5

A number of years ago I purchased two IXO 1/144 diecast He177s from Hattons model shop.
When they arrived I was very impressed with their accuracy and detail. However, I wanted to improve and repaint one of them but the real problem was deciding on which of the many different colour schemes that He177s were painted. Firstly though I carefully took it apart and painted the cockpit interior before reassembling it. I finally decided that I would paint mine in a colour scheme that I had never seen one modelled in before, that is the factory applied splinter camo one as I have a copy of the official German Air Ministry camo pattern for the He177 that was published in a model magazine many years ago.
All He177s left the factory in this scheme and all the many colour variations and patterns that you see them wearing in service were applied later over the top of the factory splinter scheme. I added yellow spinners and fuselage band but I have yet to decide on any unit codes.
