Hinckley 6th April 2025

Post by MikeV »

The SIG had a good, if somewhat cramped day out at Hinckley on Sunday. Given we only had six feet and one chair (which on reflection sounds like a character in a Terry Pratchett novel) it is perhaps fortunate that both David Hart and 'Team T&E' - Tim and Emma - were away this year, presumably doing missionary work, on opposite sides of the globe no less (If there is a model shop in the Himalayas it will be found)

Nevertheless Huw and I had a great day and as you can see managed to include land, sea and air (or all three if you count the hovercraft) David Evans also contributed some models including a first I think in the shape of a coal Barge. Narrow boats are somewhat under-represented in all scales but offer some fascinating modelling possibilities (not to mention painting challenges for those of you familiar with Canal Art)
small we may be but we can still show the full range of possibilities!

We took the opportunity to show some bigger birds, the Rivet Joint and B-1 both on their first outings. On the left of the picture is Huw's 'What If Belfast' (at least that's what we told one magazine editor............)

Also new, not one but two rotating displays. The Octagonal bases courtesy Huw, the second turntable, unbelievably, found in a charity shop for two quid!

David's coal barge added another potential source of subject matter. He is, incidentally, looking for 1/144 horses......
