Making any sort if model is recreating a real object viewed from a distance. With 1/144 scale this us quite a big distance. As we move further away from an object colours become less bright and paler to our eyes. We can get round this by adding white to mute the brightness of colours. If the colours are too bright the models, at keast to me, look more like toys than replicas.
Another factor could be in dioramas. Artist know that at big distances colours if mountains start to blue out - green colour changes to more blue. This is due to atmospheric absorption of the infra-red and red end of the spectrum. Perhaps we should consider this when using grass etc in dioramas.
