Eric Brown, who flew it, referred to it as something like “the biggest thing he’d ever seen propelled by just one engine”. He never flew the Douglas Sky Pirate, which might have changed his mind.

Lovely model - I do like your choice of subjects.
Eric Brown was a master of dry wit - seems to be part of Naval training....pithy signals with semaphore (an early form of Twitter)was probably the cause.
he said of the Blackburn Roc "...aptly named if wrongly spelt..."
