Sudanese AF MiG-21 and Su-25
Sudanese AF MiG-21 and Su-25
Wadi Sayyidna Air Base in Sudan, mid-2010
A recently arrived Belarusian Su-25 is prepared for departure on a rocket firing training flight, while the vintage MiG-21M used for training awaits more attention from mechanics.
The Su-25 is the Academy kit which is imperfect but does at least have a decent shape and lots of loadout options. The decals are from the JBr Decals Exotic Frogfoot sheet.
The MiG-21 from Eduard was detailed with another JBr sheet and the Brengun Fishbed maintenance etch set for the FOD and engine covers and the wheel chocks - an excellent sheet, although forming the conical front cover was definitely a challenge.
The figures are the excellent Heroes Models resin. A pilot is fitted into the Frogfoot but I realised late in the build that part of the opening canopy is moulded into the kit body and it wouldn't be possible to pose the canopy open without destructive surgery so he is sadly almost invisible under the thick canopy glass.
A Brengun workshop ladder and tools in a Heroes Models toolbox finish the scene.
Re: Sudanese AF MiG-21 and Su-25
very nice work Tim - I like the story behind each build and the suggestion of 'manyana maintenance' (not) going on at the MiG !
