Doing a project with my son for a display at an 80th memorial next year. We have 7 of the aircraft needed so far
Started on an Avro Lincoln using the AModels Lancaster kit. Unlike TerryP I'm rubbish at carving and have only cast once in my long modeling life so this is a challenge. (But we like a challenge)
I'll see what happens!
Avro Lincoln
Re: Avro Lincoln
Lovely stuff!
A wave of nostalgia just came over me.......I once flew a NAVEX in a Varsity from Gaydon using N Sea Oil rigs and the Firth of Forth as way points. My abiding memory is spending some time in the 'bomb aimers' pannier with its panoramic picture windows. Is that the A Model Canberra? scrubs up well. A Model at one time promised a Lincoln but it never materialised. Shame as it is sort of the missing link between the Lancaster and the Shackleton. Seems to be a growing interest in the SIG though with David having built one too. Look forward to the finished model.

Re: Avro Lincoln
Yes it's the AModels kit. I thought I'd put enough weight inside but it sat down on it's backside. Made lead nose gear doors so just enough to stand on it own 3 feet. Had the same problem with the Varsity ( it seems I do not life and learn)
Re: Avro Lincoln
I love that selection, it so much reminds me of my early years in the RAF, I worked on and flew in several of those aircraft. It also reminds me that in the late 50s just before I joined up, you could step outside and in a day you would see Lincolns, Varsitys, Canberras, Brigands in fact all sorts anything up to 20 different aircraft. I suggest 20 because I did my spotters badge then, I was a little ATC Cadet at that time and I so wish I still had my log book.
Lovely work Malcolm.
