East Midlands Model Show, Hinckley 2/4/23 report
East Midlands Model Show, Hinckley 2/4/23 report
A bold outing for the SIG at this popular Midlands event. After securing two tables initially, we managed to blag another pair of tables when they were left unclaimed and had possibly the biggest SIG display of its career, forming a very nice L shape arrangement!
The full array of models were on show, including almost every aircraft produced in our scale kit form, alongside tanks, submarines, rockets, gardens and Gundams. Lots of interest from the audience which included, thanks to the venue's prime town centre location, lots of families and curious passers by.
The main table, with David's new scifi creations garnering some great attention.
Our annexed table, courtesy of Mike and Huw's extra model collection.
Re: East Midlands Model Show, Hinckley 2/4/23 report
SIG144 had a great day out at Hinckley yesterday - given that we started with just six feet of space allocated, ending up with 24 feet was exceptional. Following an appeal to the umpires the organisers had upped us to 12' a couple of weeks before the show - as it turned out a 'no show' right next to us instantly doubled that. The extra tables were duly annexed and populated in true SIG style. Huge thanks to Huw Morgan here who not only travelled from Cumbria but was able to deploy squadrons of helicopters and F-18s, and team Tim 'n Emma who provided additional display stands and signage - having by the way done a show 'solo' the day before.
Ian and Callum came all the way up from Kent to join us with some superb models and David Hart aired his new Space subjects to much press interest (there will doubtless be magazine and video reports available shortly) For my part I'm just relieved that the paint was dry enough on the Mirage IV and 4000 to add to the Growing 'Delta' SIG theme. (we had no less than 4 Vulcans on display amongst a welter of Mirages, Convairs and Migs)
Great day out and thanks again to everybody who came
PS Tim, I didn't think the passers by were curious.................most of them seemed quite normal..................
