Re: Emma's pastoral scenes

Not Leyland Hippos. Thinking of a different project altogether!

Re: Emma's pastoral scenes

One or two of the model building manufacturers, including Metcalfe, I think, make rather nice pairs of double bayed prewar semis. There are several pictures around of USAF aircraft being towed through the Liverpool suburbs past such houses. https://twitter.com/mikeroyden/status/1073320723681304577 w...

Re: MiGs in Ethiopia - Eduard MiG-21/Academy MiG-23

Scalemates gives 197x as the release date for the Crown MiG-21PF.
So getting on for 50.
And still a very nice little kit that even managed to come out with an Airfix label at one time.
We could do with a modern kit of an early MiG-21.

Renard Épervier

Sometimes you just need to build something quickly. Amazed how chunky the 15 (?) thou plastic card empennage looks in this pic.

Re: Curtiss XBT2C-1

Brewster's nearest equivalent was the XA-32 for the USAAF: a dud.

Curtiss XBT2C-1

A Curtiss attempt to turn a SB2C into a Skyraider/Mauler competitor. The model also owes a lot to a Helldiver, in this case a F-Toys A-25.

Re: Crusty

These all look very fine. The story about NATO codenames for Soviet equipment used to be that they were chosen to be hard to confuse over radio telephony but I find that a little hard to reconcile with some of the choices.
