Re: Aeroclub early Lockheed Neptune

Interesting statistical footnote - given that there's only about 60 of us members, your Neptune seems to have attracted global attention....check out how many views the post has had!

Re: Vintage Classic Airfix SRN-4

That stirred a few memories !

Considering the age of the kit you have definitely sorted it ! I never quite understood, given the box art, why Airfix didn't include a deflated skirt (same problem with Trumpeter's LCAC - Pit Road apparently briefly re-boxed it with a resin skirt but I never saw one ...

Re: Aeroclub early Lockheed Neptune

Nice one !!

You would think, wouldn't you, that someone would have done a new Neptune by now?. That said I've built it and agree it takes a bit of fettling, but it is essentially the right shape - and the vac canopies are thick enough to take some fettling.

Good to see one coming along so well ...

South Shields June 2026

The SIG had a cracking day out on Sunday. Rob always makes us welcome and this year called our bluff by giving us 24' of table space!

I think we rose top the Challenge, sadly Malcolm couldn't be with us but we still managed to field a respectable Yacht Club, alongside group themes including ...

Malcolm that, as ever, is astonishingly good - the attention to detail and finish must put you in that very elite group of true masters of your craft - my salute sir!

Given the dismissive attitude to 144 that was prevalent in the early days I'd challenge anyone in any scale to do better - a ...

Scottish nationals, Perth 2026

We had a great show and came away with the Black Mike Shield for the best SIG display - 2nd time we have achieved this - we won it in 2022 previously.

It should also be noted that Huw - wearing his '580 Modellers' hat was double blessed as they came away with the 'Best Club' trophy !!

AND we ...

Re: Das Boot

lovely job! another recruit to the SIG Yacht Club methinks. As a (mostly) aircraft modeller I find an excursion into submarines very refreshing and an excellent challenge. Revell is a good choice - I get the impression that their sub models are somebody's labour of love. They certainly garner lots ...

THAT looks to be a heckuva project Malcolm - looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Agree with you that more of us (me included) should post about builds - even if it's only a summary, always good to see how things go.
